Finance Minister Fayval Williams declared on Tuesday that the government remains committed to growing the economy in the face of two consecutive quarters of negative growth.
The Minister, speaking in the House of Representatives, said despite the negative figures, wholesale-retail and tourism outperformed expectations.
She reported that already several sectors have bounced back from several setbacks, including Hurricane Beryl.
Julian Robinson, Opposition Spokesman on Finance, speaking on the same subject, called for the Government to focus its attention on spurring economic growth.
He pointed to the extended period of negative growth over the last year as cause for concern.
