The Government is to fork out more money to clean the fishing areas of the Pedro Cays.
Speaking at a function Thursday in Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine, Roger Clarke , Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, disclosed that J$9 million has already been spent to clean the area.
He stated that another budget is being prepared to carry out further cleaning.
The Fisheries Minister revealed that when completed, users of the cays will have to foot the cost of maintaining the area.
Concern was raised late last year about the mounds of garbage that had built up on the Pedro Cays. There was a subsequent clean up exercise.
