Gov't details remit of new Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs

The Government of Jamaica has provided details on the portfolio responsibilities of the newly created Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs.
 
According to information released on Wednesday, the ministry's subject areas are: constitutional reform, legal education, legal reform and protection of human rights.
 
The new ministry, which is led by former Attorney General Marlene Malahoo Forte, will oversee the Law Revision Secretariat, the Legal Reform Department and the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel.
 
Wayne Robinson has been appointed Permanent Secretary (acting) in the ministry.
 
The Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs was announced on Monday as part of Prime Minister Andrew Holness' Cabinet shuffle.
