Integrity Commission holds rare press conference today

The Integrity Commission will host a rare press conference on Monday morning and is expected to address a number of issues that have dominated public discourse in recent weeks.

The Commission, headed by retired Court of Appeal President Justice Karl Harrison, is likely to respond to concerns about its public disagreement with its Director of Corruption Prosecutions Dirk Harrison (no relation to Karl Harrison) on the treatment of the investigation into the sale of the Rooms on the Beach resort property by the government.

Another matter of current concern is the fact that several sitting members of parliament, from both major political parties, have not been “cleared” in respect of their statutory reports filed for 2016 with the Commission.

This was revealed in the Integrity Commission’s annual report for 2017.

Of note is the fact that Prime Minister Andrew Holness is one of the MPs whose statutory declaration is still under review.
