The Jamaica Council of Churches (JCC) has joined the call for the removal of the gag order which prevents the Integrity Commission from publicly sharing information about its investigations.
The Integrity Commission, which wants Section 53 of the Integrity Commission Act amended, is prevented from making any announcement that it has commenced an investigation or give updates.
In a media release on Friday, the JCC said the level of distrust in Jamaica is at crisis proportions, which makes the country increasingly difficult to govern.
JCC President Reverend Kenneth Richards has urged parliamentarians to consider the recommendation of the Integrity Commission.
Reverend Richards says the JCC believes that this will help to sustain the government's commitment to clampdown on corruption.
Minister of Justice Delroy Chuck recently reiterated his support for the gag order.
