Some delegates and supporters of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) are now protesting at the entrance to the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation building on Church Street in Morant Bay.

The protest was triggered by a row concerning the selection of the candidate for the Morant Bay Division who will run in the Local Government elections.

The protesters say they were not involved in the process to select Denvar Howell.

The delegates argue that Wilbert Walker, who has their support, is being sidelined by Member of Parliament Dr. Michelle Charles.

"I've seen where Mr. Walker was selected as our caretaker/candidate and when it's time close for the election, we hear that it's Denver Howell, and we definitely not working with Mr. Denver Howell," an indoor agent for the JLP asserted.

She said Mr. Walker had already been reaching out to the division as caretaker and "has been here with us through thick and thin, even through the pandemic".

"We are not going to settle with Denver Howell. No Walker, no vote," she warned.
