JUTC management responds to Roper's criticism

The management of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has responded to comments by former Chairman Reverend Garnet Roper regarding the findings of an internal audit at the State-run entity.

The audit, which was ordered by the current JUTC Board, revealed procurement breaches, a breakdown in security, massive overtime payments, among other issues.

In an interview with RJR News earlier this week, Reverend Roper described it as a smoke screen to deflect attention from existing challenges at the JUTC, including the roll out of fewer buses.

Paul Abrahams, JUTC Managing Director, has invited Reverend Roper to challenge the findings which were presented by Transport Minister Mike Henry.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mr. Abrahams said the findings were made by the same senior management team that Reverend Roper left in office earlier this year.
He said it was therefore impractical to question the authenticity of the information presented.
