Kemi Badenoch on Saturday became the new leader of the UK's Convervative Party, succeeding Rishi Sunak who led the party to a massive loss in the general parliamentary election earlier this year.
She defeated Robert Jenrick in the election among Tory members, following a lengthy contest.
It comes almost four months after the Tories' crushing general election defeat which triggered Sunak's resignation.
Badenoch described being appointed leader as an enormous honour and pledged to hold the Labour government to account.
She is the sixth Tory leader in less than eight and a half years and faces the challenge of uniting a fractured party.
She's also the first Black person to lead the Conservative Party.
