Jamaica’s health authorities are monitoring cases in which patients who recovered from COVID-19 later suffered complications which resulted in strokes and heart attacks.
Studies have also revealed the risk of neurologic and neuropsychiatric complications of COVID-19 infection such as psychosis, altered mental state, and dementia-like syndrome.
Dr Jaquiline Bisasor McKenzie, the country’s Chief Medical Officer, revealed on Monday that she was aware of some such case reports in Jamaica.
She disclosed that the Ministry of Health & Wellness is conducting follow-up consultations with former COVID 19 patients.
