Sydney Rose, Councilor for the Treadways Division, says the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation has selected a property to be used as the new Treadways Health Centre.
The Treadways Health Centre has been closed for more than two years and residents had to be using the Linstead Health Centre as an alternative.
Mr. Rose said following a meeting with Medical Officer of Health for St. Catherine Dr. Francia Prosper-Chen, the Corporation has begun cleaning up the prospective property.
"She has asked us to clean because she’s in the process of assisting with a building, either through the Government of Jamaica or through Food for the Poor," he revealed.
Mr. Rose said he expects the clean up to be finished by the end of this week to facilitate an inspection in short order.
He added that residents and members of the Jamaican diaspora have promised to donate both money and labour to assist in the construction.
