Man accused of severing the hand of his child's mother charged

A man accused of severing the hand of his child's mother during a domestic dispute in Petersfield, Westmoreland has been charged with wounding with intent.
 
He is Ashroy Johnson, of Shrewsbury district in the parish.
 
It's reported that on April 12, Mr. Johnson and the 21-year-old woman were embroiled in an argument over a cellphone.
 
It was further reported that Mr. Johnson reportedly used a machete to chop the complainant on her right hand, severing it.
 
The woman was also hit several times on the head and other parts of her body with the machete.
 
The police were called and the wounded woman was taken to hospital, where she was admitted in a serious condition.
 
Mr. Johnson, who fled the scene, was later arrested and subsequently charged.
