One man is dead and a policeman wounded after they were shot during a confrontation in Mandeville, Manchester Friday morning.
Dead is 22-year-old mechanic Lawrent Steve Lawrence of Hatfield in the parish.
Police Corporal Clayton Brown, and Wayne Campbell, otherwise called 'Little Bear', are also now in hospital after the incident.
Reports are that members of the Manchester police were conducting an operation along Decarteret Road in Mandeville, when they were confronted by a group of men who opened fire on the police team.
The fire was returned and when it subsided it was discovered that three men were shot and wounded.
They were taken to hospital where Lawrence was pronounced dead and the police corporal and Wayne Campbell were admitted.
The police say they also recovered a homemade firearm from the dead man.
