A 20-year old man, who pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a protected animal, is to be sentenced on May 5.
The man was charged after he was caught selling a Yellow-Billed Parrot in Swansea, Clarendon on February 11, 2011.
The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) says endangered species, such as the Yellow-billed parrots, are protected under the Wild Life Protection Act.
NEPA added that members of the public found in possession or guilty of hurting and hunting, killing, capturing or willful molesting birds or any other protected species may be charged with a maximum fine of $100,000 or one year imprisonment.
