Manatt/Dudus Commission of Enquiry report now ready

The highly-anticipated report on the findings of the Manatt/Dudus Commission of Enquiry is now ready, and is to be presented to Governor-General, Sir Patrick Allen, on Monday.

Highly-placed sources told RJR News that the report contains explosive material.

According to our sources, the Commissioners, in their findings, were critical of the actions of some public officers, including Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Jeremy Taylor, in the handling of the Dudus Coke extradition request.

Our sources were, however, tight-lipped on whether the Commissioners have recommended any disciplinary action against the public officers.

The Emil George-led Commission was expected to submit its findings on May 16, but requested an extension.

Sir Patrick is expected to submit the report to Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, who will, then, take it to Cabinet.

Mr Golding set up the Commission of Enquiry, following howls of protest from human rights groups, civic groups, and the business community, about the government's handling of the extradition request for Christopher "Dudus" Coke.

Mr Golding and his party came under fire, after it was revealed that the Jamaica Labour Party(JLP) had engaged the services of the US law firm - Manatt, Phelps and Phillips - to lobby the US government, following the extradition request for Coke.

The Manatt affair was first raised in Parliament by former National Security Minister, Dr Peter Phillips.
