Monkeypox patient, who absconded from hospital, back in state care

 
The patient diagnosed with the first case of moneypox in Jamaica was found Saturday afternoon at a house in Four Paths, Clarendon, hours after he fled isolation at a health facility in the parish.
 
Radio Jamaica News was informed that the patient was held at a house in Sheckles district, Four Paths, during a search by the police and health officials.
 
It's understood that he was found holding his infant child at his mother's house.
 
His mother and the child are expected to be placed in quarantine as a precaution.
 
The Ministry of Health & Wellness had earlier reported that on Saturday morning the patient left the health facility where he had been placed in isolation pending his recovery.
 
According to the Health Ministry, the patient – who presented to the public health system on July 5, having arrived in Jamaica some five days earlier from the United Kingdom – left through a bathroom window of the facility and boarded a waiting motor vehicle.
 
Monkeypox is a viral disease that usually presents with mild to moderate symptoms. 
 
The symptoms include fever, intense headache, swelling of the lymph nodes, back pain, muscle ache, lack of energy, and/or rash.
