More than 100 murders committed so far this year

Jamaica has recorded more than 100 murders since the start of the year.
 
As at January 26, there were 104 murders, compared to 94 during the same period last year.
 
The Kingston West police division, which has seen a spike in gang violence, recorded 15 murders up from two during the same period in 2020.
 
There were 18 murders in St. James.
 
Four cases of homicide were reported during the same period last year.
 
The police data also show an 11 per cent spike in shootings.
