The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) has affirmed that it's on track to start Jamaica's 15th National Population and Housing Census in September.
The national census is normally carried out every 10 years and should have been executed in 2021 but was pushed back by a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Carol Coy, Director-General of STATIN, has announced that data collection will start on September 13.
In addition to counting people in their homes, STATIN will be documenting those living in various institutions, on the streets and Jamaica's cays.
Interviewers will be deployed island-wide and each interviewee will be asked to complete a questionnaire.
The main data collection phase is expected to last up to December, with a general census report to be made available by December 2023.
