Police Commissioner Dr. Carl Williams wants the Office of the Political Ombudsman to include prohibitions against the wearing of masks on motorcades as well as public meetings to the list of offences in the political code of conduct.
Mr Williams has announced that he plans to speak with Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown to have this provision included in the code of conduct to be signed this week by aspirants in the February 25 general election.
The communication arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force said in a statement on Sunday night that some individuals are concealing their identities by wearing masks on motorcades and at political meetings and other public meetings.
It said, while there is no law against the practice, it arouses the suspicion of the police.
The police are appealing to persons to desist from wearing masks at these events.
