Police Commissioner Dr. Kevin Blake says a special team of investigators has been assigned to track down the men behind Monday night's mass shooting along 83 Lane, off Waltham Park Road.

Five men were killed and one wounded in the attack which occurred about 7:30 p.m.

Speaking at a press briefing near the site of the shooting, Dr. Blake promised that those involved will be caught.

"I would like to just assure the public that we have been quite relentless. These types of incidents require a different, more strident response, and it has been receiving that type of response so far," he said, vowing that the police will do what is necessary to secure citizens.

While the police believe the incident may be gang-related, Dr. Blake said: "I'm told that the victims are non-combatants; these were innocent citizens playing a game of domino, which everyone should be able to do."

He accompanied Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness and National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang on a tour of the area on Tuesday morning.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that one of the victims, identified as 24-year-old David Mardner, a resident of 75 Lane, was killed inside a shop operated by his relatives.

The gunmen then went to a nearby bar on Asia Avenue, 83 Lane, where they opened fire on the other victims who were playing dominoes.

Nearly 30 spent shells from an M16 assault rifle and handguns were found at the scene.
