Police release details on shooting of nine year old boy in St. Andrew

The police have released details on last weekend's shooting of a nine year old boy on Penwood Road in St. Andrew.

The child's uncle, who is a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, is under investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

In a preliminary statement to investigators, the policeman reported that he was in a room at a house when his nephew entered and jumped on the bed.

There was an explosion and it was discovered that the boy had been shot in the chest.

He has been admitted to the Bustamante Children Hospital in serious condition.
