PSTEB seeking assistance to prevent traffic block at busy intersections

Senior Superintendent Gary McKenzie, head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch

Senior Superintendent Gary McKenzie, head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), is seeking more assistance from the authorities in preventing busy intersections from being blocked by motorists.

He said attempts are being made to get the intersections painted with markings to guide motorists of where they should not venture while traffic lights are about to change.

SSP McKenzie said the markings have been effective in the past so more are needed to assist the police.

"One of the things that will make a difference is the use of the yellow boxes that are usually in intersections. Those need to be multiplied. We are reaching out to get those done because those can guide in terms of ensuring that intersections are not blocked," he suggested.

He was speaking Tuesday night on Radio Jamaica's weekly programme Balancing Justice.
