Superintendent Kirk Ricketts, head of the Trelawny police
Radio Jamaica News has been informed that a relative of four-year-old Chloe Brown who was killed in Freeman's Hall, Trelawny on Monday morning, is among three persons in police custody in connection with the case.
The other two individuals are said to be the alleged shooter as well as a woman.
Chloe was shot in the abdomen about 1 o'clock.
Superintendent Kirk Ricketts, head of the Trelawny police, told Radio Jamaica News that Chloe's father was shot in the leg.
It's reported that the family were at home when persons called the father outside but he refused. The attackers then gained entry into the house, and during a tussle, he and his daughter were shot.
Superintendent Ricketts said the incident likely stemmed from a domestic dispute that began at a birthday party some hours before, where there was an altercation between Chloe's father and his brother.
The superintendent expressed concern about the number of violent domestic incidents in Trelawny and urged residents to recognise that "the best way to deal with these disputes is to seek help."
