Rescue operations at collapsed Florida building paused over safety concerns

Seven days after the building collapse in South Florida, rescue operations have been paused due to concerns about the safety of the structure.

At least 18 people are confirmed dead.

Some 145 people are still unaccounted for.

Crews have removed almost 1,400 tons of debris from the site.

However, Miami-Dade Fire Chief Alan Cominsky said there is concern about movement and a large column hanging from the structure.

He said the column could fall and damage the support columns and the south terrain garage area.
