Superintendent Allison Byfield, Commanding Officer for the St. Thomas Police Division
The community of Ten Miles in Bull Bay, St. Thomas is on edge after gunmen carried out three killings on Thursday.
There were two fatal shootings shortly after midnight while the third incident took place Thursday afternoon.
The police were at the location of the third killing late Thursday.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that the unidentified man was shot some time after 3 o'clock.
The police believe it was a reprisal for the earlier killing of two brothers at their home in Ten Miles.
According to the police, the fatal shooting of the two brothers early Thursday morning at their home in Tankwell Heights could be linked to a gang feud in the area.
The brothers have been identified as 28-year-old Oshane Prince and 24-year-old Swaynson Reece.
Both were masons.
It was reported that about 12:40 a.m., gunmen kicked open the front door to their house.
Both men were ordered to go outside where they were shot in the head.
A third brother who was at the house fled.
Two houses in the community were then set ablaze. One was destroyed.
Superintendent Allison Byfield, Commanding Officer for the St. Thomas Police Division, said the hunt is now on to apprehend criminals in the area.
She encouraged residents with information to assist the police so normality can be restored to the area and "persons can go about their lives in a peaceful and lawful way".
