Security guard who allegedly tried to sexually assault child on UWI campus charged

The St. Andrew Central police say further charges are pending against the security guard who was arrested on Monday on allegations that he attempted to sexually assault a child on the compound of the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.
 
The man, whose identity has not been released, was charged on Wednesday with assault occasioning bodily harm.
 
Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth, Commanding Officer for the St. Andrew Andrew Central Police, says the child was physically assaulted by the suspect.
 
It was reported that the nine-year-old girl was on her way to visit a relative on the university campus when she encountered the guard.
 
Persons heard her screaming and rushed to her assistance.
 
The security guard ran but was held and handed over to the police.
