President General of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) and Senator Kavan Gayle has underscored what he termed the prudent management of the economy by the current administration.

Senator Gayle said the government has instituted critical policies to ensure there is continued growth in the economy.

He said the government has created employment opportunities, attracted investments and provided reasonable increases in wages for public servants.

The senator argued that strategic investment in infrastructure and targeted economic reforms have resulted in positive fiscal indicators.

"Through initiative such as tax incentives, streamlined regulations and investment in key sectors, we have cultivated an atmosphere where business can thrive, leading to sustained economic expansion. Jamaica is moving in the right direction. Mr. President, moreover, the creation of employment opportunities has been a top priority for this government. By investing in education, skills training and entrepreneurship programmes, we have empowered our citizens to participate meaningfully in the labour force," he asserted.

Mr. Gayle was speaking in the Senate on Wednesday during debate on the Appropriations Act 2024.
