Six including police officer shot at party in Clarendon

The police have released more details on yesterday's gun attack and robbery at a party in Palmers Cross, Clarendon, in which a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force was shot.

According to the police, six people were shot in the attack.

The constable and the other victims have been hospitalised.

It's reported that, about 12:50 am, patrons were gathered at a "drink out" at a shop along the Palmers Cross main road when two armed men pounced on the operator of the venue and demanded money.

They robbed him of $100,000 in cash.

While making their escape, the gunmen opened fire on the crowd that had gathered.

Six of the patrons, including the police constable, were shot.

The constable sustained bullet wounds to his neck and back.

The other victims were also seriously wounded.

They were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The police are warning that criminal elements are targeting party promoters and round robin members as they collect large sums of cash.

The cops are recommending that proper security measures be put in place when these events are staged.
