Work on a section of the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project in St. Thomas has been halted for a second day due to a protest by residents of Grants Pen.
The residents reportedly removed the driver of a tractor-trailer and used the vehicle to block a section of the road.
It follows Wednesday's protest in which scores of placard-bearing residents complained about plans by the contractor of the project to divert traffic from their community.
It's understood that traffic will be diverted in order to continue work on a section of the road.
But residents diverting traffic from their community could create transportation and other challenges.
On Thursday, the residents told Radio Jamaica News that a meeting has been scheduled for later that day to discuss their concerns.
They have insisted that the protest will continue if the authorities do not address their concern about the diversion of traffic from Grants Pen.
