There is relief among residents of Bath in St. Thomas amid reports indicating the capture of Davian Bryan, who was being sought in relation to the abduction of two girls in the area in October last year.
Mr. Bryan was held on Wednesday night in the community of Durham in Portland.
While the residents are relieved that he is in custody, some are hesitant to celebrate pending the outcome of the judicial process.
Leehola Simpson, a resident of Bottom Yard in Bath, told Radio Jamaica News her mind is now at ease, as the community had been even more on edge after Bryan was rumoured to be involved in another recent incident in Portland.
"Then we hear that he was coming back to Bath and all this news circulating, and we got so scared. Everybody came out, following the children to school and going for them because we didn't know what was his next step. So, now that we hear that he is caught, yeah man, we really happy and hope he's away for good," she said.
Still, some community members are apprehensive and say they want pictures or videos to confirm that Mr. Bryan has indeed been captured.
However, in the community of Spring Bank, where the second girl had been found, residents were in a jubilant mood early Thursday morning as they took to the streets to celebrate Mr. Bryan's capture.
