Third person dies after inhaling fumes from septic tank at Moneague College

A third person has died from Monday's mishap which occurred while workmen were cleaning a septic tank at the Moneague College in St. Ann.

Beresford Gordon, 46, of a Church Pen Road address in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, died Tuesday morning at St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital.

Mr. Gordon's co-workers from Central Cesspool — 46-year-old Kirk Kerr of Shelter Rock, Spanish Town and 56-year-old Joslyn Henry of Rivoli, Spanish Town — died on Monday after being exposed to noxious fumes from the septic tank.

One of the workmen in the tank reportedly encountered difficulties and others went to assist.

A team comprising the police, soldiers and fire personnel helped to remove the men from the tank.

A probe is being carried out by the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
