Tommy Lee Sparta
Dancehall artiste Tommy Lee Sparta has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The entertainer, whose given name is Leroy Russell, was arrested on Monday after a vehicle in which he was travelling was stopped by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Specialised Operations.
The men in the vehicle were searched and the firearm allegedly found in Mr. Russell's waistband.
He remains in police custody and is to appear in court to answer to the charges on January 6.
The police on Tuesday afternoon tweeted that Tommy Lee Sparta is the subject of other criminal investigations.
The other men held along with the entertainer remain in custody.
The police say they are being investigated by the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC).
