Travel agent welcomes lifting of COVID-19 vaccination requirement for travel to USA

Carol Whittle, General Manager, Unique Travel Services

One travel agency is expecting an increase in people booking flights to the United States following a decision by the Biden Administration to lift requirements for air travelers to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination before flying.

The Biden Administration announced on Monday that it will end Covid vaccination requirements for federal employees and international air travelers on May 11.

The administration is also ending vaccination requirements it had implemented for international air travelers as part of its effort to curb the spread of new variants.

This means international air travelers who are not American citizens or lawful permanent residents will no longer need to be fully vaccinated before flying to the United States.

Carol Whittle, General Manager of Unique Travel Services, told Radio Jamaica News that a number of people opted not to travel to the US due to the vaccine requirement.

She believes the removal of the restrictions is good news for travel agencies and customers.
