A motorist is facing several charges, including manslaughter, after two pedestrians were mowed down along Sir Florizel Glasspole Boulevard in Kingston Friday morning.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.

The driver of the vehicle is in custody.

Assistant Commissioner Dr Gary McKenzie, Commanding Officer for the Public Safety & Traffic Enforcement Branch, said the preliminary investigation suggests the motorist had been speeding.

ACP McKenzie says the crash occurred despite favourable road conditions.

He said the motorist returned a negative breathalyzer test.

He added that the driver was previously convicted for excessive speeding and no motor vehicle insurance, which are breaches of the Road Traffic Act.
