UPDATE: JLP councillor-caretaker dies in car crash

Details have been provided on Monday morning's motor vehicle crash which claimed the life of Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor-caretaker Omar Francis.
 
The incident occurred sometime after 3 o'clock in Byles, Kitson Town, St. Catherine.
 
Residents told Radio Jamaica News that they heard a noise and went to investigate.
 
They found Mr. Francis inside a Toyota Rav 4 that had crashed into a concrete culvert. They removed him from the vehicle and took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 
 
Mr. Francis was recently selected as the Jamaica Labour Party's representative for the Point Hill Division in St. Catherine.
 
Member of Parliament for St. Catherine West Central, Dr. Christopher Tufton paid tribute to Mr. Francis on Twitter. 
 
Young Jamaica, the youth arm of the Jamaica Labour Party, also remembered  Mr. Francis for his "inspirational eloquence and kind-hearted human warmth". They added that his contribution to the development of both the "political and national landscape stands as a testament to his impact and influence on the development of the lives of the Jamaican people and his constituents". 
 
Late last month, councillor-caretaker for the Southboro Division in St. Catherine, Lennox Hines, was fatally shot on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston.
