Vandals target NWC's Jerusalem Mountain facility

For the second time in five years, the Jerusalem Mountain facility of the National Water Commission (NWC) in Westmoreland has been hit by vandals.

A statement from the NWC says thieves stole a pump at the facility.

The NWC says this has further derailed efforts to restore water to the communities of Jerusalem Mountain, Herring Place and Mijam Mountain in Westmoreland.

Kevin Kerr, NWC Vice President of Divisional Operations for the West, says the Commission will now have to allot $1 million to replace the pump.

The NWC is appealing to anyone with information relating to the theft of the pump to call the Westmoreland police at 955-2810.
