Vendors at Coronation Market in downtown Kingston are upset at the loss of revenue caused by frequent power cuts in the market and have called on the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation to rectify the issue.
According to Shernet Williams - a vendor at the market, says the facility has been without power since Tuesday evening and as a result, customers have been turned away.
She says multiple complaints to the Municipal Corporation, which handles payments to the Jamaica Public Service Company, have gone unanswered.
She also said the bathroon facilities at the market have been out of use due to a lack of water and 16 stalls have been burglarized at the market in the past week.
Williams added that poor maintenance and frequent power outages have made vendors vulnerable to theft.
