There are conflicting reports surrounding the death of a Westmoreland bartender who was shot allegedly with her police boyfriend's firearm at a hotel in May Pen, Clarendon on Sunday.

The woman has been identified as 20-year-old Jimoy Suckoo.

About 7 o'clock Sunday evening, the Constable said he woke Ms. Suckoo with the intention of going on the road to purchase food.

He said he placed his service pistol on the bed and turned his back.

The cop said he turned around after he heard a loud explosion.

He said that was when he realised that his girlfriend had a bullet wound to her chest.

Ms. Suckoo was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

In another account of incident, the cop said he was about to get something to eat and began removing his service firearm from his leg holster when the weapon slipped from his hand.

In an attempt to catch it, the cop said he accidentally caused the gun to go off.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) says it is investigating the incident as a fatal shooting.
