Political commentator Clyde Williams has said he is disappointed with the 19-member interim Shadow Cabinet announced Monday by Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips.
Mr. Williams told Radio Jamaica News that Dr. Phillips failed to signal that he is listening to the calls for change.
"I wasn't impressed in the last parliamentary term - far from - and I'm worst, because he's had an opportunity to carve something a little different, even though it would be interim, so that Jamaica could see that the PNP understood the message that was sent on (September 3). But he has tacked Jamaica with the same team that the country rejected. It's bizarre. But, as I said, it's a lame duck situation because it's interim until the next PNP leader," he lamented.
Mr. Williams has also taken issue with the structure of the interim Shadow Cabinet, arguing that he doesn't understand why the ministries are not shadowing the exact government ministries.
"Every ministry has specific subjects and departments and agencies under that ministry, and when you don't do it exact, you may miss an agency or two because of how you have crossed it here and there. So I'm a little disappointed that structurally, it didn't reflect exactly what the government side is doing, so one person could shadow and know that all the things are covered," he observed.
