The remainder of the 2019-2020 Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) season has been cancelled due to the impact of the Covid -19 pandemic. Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Michael Ricketts who made the announcement on Friday during a virtual press briefing, said the decision was arrived at following discussions with key stakeholders including the Minister of Sports and the Ministry of Health.
All results and statistics from the 2019-2020 season will also be made null and void with no team being promoted or relegated. Waterhouse were leaders of the RSPL when it was suspended in March with 4 rounds of regular season matches to go and the playoffs to follow. The JFF president also revealed that the new season is tentatively set to start in September. In addition to the RSPL, the Super League, Major League and all parish competitions have also been cancelled.
