Brinks lands Pick 3 Super Challenge Trophy event

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

The 8-5 favourite Brinks under an excellent ride from 6-time former champion jockey Omar Walker for trainer Ian Parsard, landed Saturday's feature event, the $3.6 million Pick 3 Super Challenge Trophy for native bred 2 year olds over 7 furlongs at Caymanas Park quite impressively.

The 2 year old bay gelding chased long time leader Princsshootingstar before mounting a serious challenge a furlong from home.

Brinks who made it two wins from as many career starts, came home in 1 minute-twenty-seven-and-one-fifth of a second to win by 3-and-a-quarter lengths.

Meanwhile, title-chasing trainer Jason DaCosta who started the day almost $2 million in stakes earnings behind reigning champion Anthony "Baba" Nunes" closed the gap to $184,000 after combining with leading rider Anthony Thomas for a natural hattrick. Racing continues on Sunday with a 10-race programme starting at 11:45 am.
