Charlie Smith clip Denham Town in West Kingston Manning Cup derby

Charlie Smith High picked up their second win of the season in the ISSA Manning Cup after clipping West Kingston rivals Denham Town 1-0 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Friday. After a scoreless first half, the captain of Charlie Smith Gianni Golding broke the deadlock in the 74th minute. The strike enabled them to move to up to second in the table and to seven points.

This was also the first time Charlie Smith picked up a clean sheet since the opening day. Elsewhere on the day, Excelsior clipped Kingston Technical 2-1 at Mountain View. It was Excelsior who took the lead courtesy of Rajaughn Josephs with a 55th minute penalty and their advantage was doubled on 62 minutes through Jhevan Smith.

Kingston Technical got a consolation goal from Roje Williams who converted a 90th minute penalty. They ended the game with 10 players as delano brown was sent off in time added. Both teams are now on 6 points from four games.

Meanwhile, defending champions Kingston College spanked Cedar Grove Academy 8-0 in another Manning Cup encounter on Friday. In other games Calabar clipped Ardenne 1-0 St Catherine High drove seven unanswered goals past Northern Technical while St Andrew Technical edged Papine 1-0.
