Day of upsets at Caymanas Park

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

Six upsets were recorded on Saturday's 11 race card at Caymanas Park including the 24-1 shot Jamai Raja in the feature United Racehorse Trainers Association Trophy, an Overnight Allowance contest over 7-and-a-half furlongs.

Meanwhile, 3-time former champion Dane Nelson has reduced Anthony Thomas' lead in the race for the jockey's championship.

Nelson booted home a 3-timer to push his tally for the season to 70 wins, now just four behind Thomas who went winless from 10 mounts on the 11-race card.

Leading trainer and reigning champion Anthony "Baba" Nunes saddled two winners, while arch rival and 18-time former champion Wayne DaCosta was winless. Racing continues next Saturday.
