Gayle and Russell tipped for return to Windies T20 squad

Radio Jamaica Sports understands that hard hitting batsman Chris Gayle and Jamaican all-rounder Andre Russell are expected to be named in the West Indies T20 squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka which starts on March 3 in Antigua at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.

The 41 year old Gayle who last played a T20 International in March 2019 against England, has 22 T20 centuries, two for the Caribbean team.

Russell who missed the New Zealand tour in December after initial selection, is expected to feature against the Asian team against whom he was Man of the Series in March 2020.

Radio Jamaica Sports also understands that 37 year old Dwayne Bravo is also expected to return to the squad after missing the tour to New Zealand due to a groin injury.

The West Indies are scheduled to play three T20s against Sri Sanka as preparation for their T20 World Cup title defence which comes up in October in India. The rest of the series has three ODI's and two test matches which will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
