Hooper, Reifer and Franklin appointed Windies assistant coaches

Former West Indies captain Carl Hooper will be one of three assistant coaches to Daren Sammy for the West Indies white ball teams.

Hooper who is based in Australia, has coaching experience in the CPL with Antigua Hawksbills and Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The 56 year old was an assistant coach for the Adelaide Strikers in the recent Big Bash League and joins another former captain, Floyd Reifer as well as former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin as the assistant coaches.

Reifer was the assistant for Sammy at the St Lucia Kings, while Franklin with 179 international matches, has served as bowling coach for the Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League.

For the test team, former West Indies players Kenny Benjamin and Stuart Williams as well as Rayon Griffith will be the assistant coaches, working alongside head coach, Andre Coley.

Benjamin and Griffith were part of the coaching staff for the tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa earlier this year, while Williams has previously worked as an assistant coach on various tours.

All new assistant coaches have been appointed on a short-term basis and will be reviewed after the India series in August 2023.

The West Indies are presently in Sharjah for the three match series against the UAE which bowls off on Sunday, June 4 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
