Jamaica lose opening game at CWI Rising Stars U15 tournament

Jamaica's U15 team suffered a 9 wicket loss to Barbados U15s in their opening match at the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars 50 over youth tournament at the Liberta Sports Ground in Antigua on Monday.

Sent to bat, Jamaica's U15s were first dismissed for a paltry 77 off 24.5 overs. Luwain Pryce with 22 top scored for the young Jamaicans, while Tesfah Ward made 13 and Wayne Plummer 12. Ashner Branford took 4-20, Joshua Thompson 3-14 and Jahidi Hinds 3-16 for the young Bajans.

In reply, Barbados U15s got to 78 for the loss of 1 wicket in 18 overs. Hinds returned to topscore with an unbeaten 28. Javion Baston made 22, while Justin Parris was also unbeaten on 11. Andrew Lloyd took the lone wicket to fall for 12 runs.

The Jamaicans will next face Guyana Under 15s on Thursday at the Antigua Recreation Ground.
