Jamaica were shot down on home soil as they were relegated to minor placings in the three-day riffle shooting contest at the Twickenham Park Shooting Range.
The Brits demonstrated why they are ranked as the best in the world by amassing 1138.78 points to win the team competition. Jamaica secured 1096.69 points. The teams competed over ranges of 300, 500 and 600 yards. In the individual competition, David Rickman was Jamaica's best finisher in third place after recording 332.18 to place behind British winner Jon Underwood with a score of 343.31. His teammate, David Crispin was second with 332.25. The only other Jamaican to make the top 10 was Jose Nunez who scored 323.14.
Despite ending without a win, Rickman reflected on what he believes was a successful outing, given the challenges they encountered. Underwood says the competition has prepared them for their next stops in the region.
The Great Britain rifle team will head to Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago for similar tournaments before going to Barbados for the Caribbean rifle shooting championships in May.
