Mouttet Mile entrant impressive in debut local run

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

The imported bay mare American Tap warmed up for September's Mouttet mile with an impressive performance in Saturday’s feature event, the Nigel B. Nunes Memorial Cup  a non-restricted Overnight Allowance contest over the 5 straight course at Caymanas Park.

American tap who was running on local soil for the first time, was made the 1-2 favourite and won by 4-and-three quarter lengths in a smart time of 58.2 after splits of 23.1 and 46.0. She was ridden to victory by the inform Tevin Foster for trainer Howard Jaghai.

The win closed a quick double for Foster on the 9-race card, while there were also two wins for Raddesh Roman.

Trainer Greg Fennell had a double on the programme. Racing continues next Saturday.
