No Jamaican franchise for the second straight year of CPL

Jamaica will not have a franchise for the second straight year in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Radio Jamaica Sports understands that discussions between the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) and a franchise from the Indian Premier League (IPL) are still ongoing.

The 2025 CPL will take place from Thursday, August 14 to Sunday, September 21. The dates were agreed on by CPL and Cricket West Indies (CWI) and will ensure there will be no clash with West Indies international matches.

The six teams taking part in the 2025 season will be Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, St Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders.
The teams will compete across 34 matches to decide who will claim the 2025 CPL title.

St Lucia Kings are the defending champions. The Kings won their first title in 2024, beating the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final.
