Petersfield High School continues to groom and produce spectacular athletes both on the track but also field events. Kevin Nedrick over the weekend at Carifta trials threw 20.08 meters to win the Under-20 discus.

The effort marks the second best all-time by a Jamaican, behind national junior record holder Ashinia Miller, formerly of Calabar with 20.15 metres.

Antonio Watson also produced a personal best on Sunday when he stopped the clock at 47.08 seconds to capture the u-18 boys 400 meters.

With much success over the last few seasons, the young talents of Petersfield High has caught the eyes of bigger schools in chase of the Boy's and Girl's Championship titles.

However, speaking on Hitz 92 FM Girls Sports Club onMonday, head coach Machel Woolery shared how he manages to keep his young talents grounded and willingly staying at Petersfield High.

“It’s a challenging situation. Some of these kids are humble and some things they are being offered out there they get it at Petersfield. They are already making the national team and beating everyone in Jamaica and so the way we treat our kids, they are very patriotic and want to be a part of whatever greatness we achieve here at Petersfield High School,” said Woolery.
