Proposal made for a new sports act

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Jerome Foster

A new sports act has been proposed by the parliamentary opposition to give Jamaican athletes and clubs the chance to enhance the country's growth in the sports industry.

Fresh off the heels of concerns surrounding the infrastructure of the National Stadium, opposition spokesperson with responsibility for local government, community development and sports, Natalie Neita-Garvey is calling on the government to assemble the nation's Sports Council.

The Sports Council which was formed in 1994, has been dormant for the last seven years.
